Job Overview:
The MHT Physician/Obstetrician will provide primary health care services in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) to women, adolescents, and other individuals with SRH needs affected by the earthquake, in accordance with national protocols, IOM guidelines, and applicable humanitarian standards. The role involves conducting clinical assessments, identifying obstetric risk factors, providing basic prenatal care, postnatal care, and guidance for continuity of care in functional health facilities. The physician will also identify, stabilize when appropriate, and refer emergency obstetric, neonatal, or gynecological cases, ensuring the activation of safe and timely referral mechanisms. The position supports the implementation of priority SRH interventions in emergencies, in line with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) and other applicable international standards. The physician will participate in rapid assessments of SRH needs in affected communities, temporary shelters, transitional camps, and health facilities impacted by the earthquake, identifying access gaps, risks, and intervention priorities. Additionally, the physician will contribute to identifying and monitoring risks related to maternal mortality, neonatal health, and obstetric complications in the intervention areas, providing counseling and guidance in SRH, ensuring culturally appropriate and evidence-based information is delivered in the emergency context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the MHT Physician/Obstetrician include:

• Providing primary health care services in sexual and reproductive health to affected populations.
• Conducting clinical evaluations and identifying obstetric risk factors.
• Offering basic prenatal and postnatal care, ensuring continuity of care.
• Identifying and stabilizing emergency cases and referring them appropriately.
• Supporting the implementation of SRH interventions in emergencies.
• Participating in rapid needs assessments in affected communities.
• Monitoring maternal and neonatal health risks.
• Providing culturally appropriate counseling in SRH.
• Identifying survivors of sexual violence and ensuring safe referrals. 1
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records of consultations and activities. 1
• Prescribing medications according to clinical protocols. 1
• Contributing to health promotion and community education activities. 1
• Training and mentoring community health workers. 1
• Mapping available SRH services and ensuring coordination with health authorities. 1
• Participating in planning and coordination meetings and contributing to technical reports.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:

• A university degree in Gynecology and Obstetrics from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or a secondary education diploma (high school) with four years of relevant professional experience.
• Submission of a copy of the medical degree and specialty in Gynecology and Obstetrics, along with registration and clearance from the Medical Association of the state where the candidate will practice.
• Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Gynecology and Obstetrics from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a secondary education diploma (high school) is acceptable if accompanied by four years of relevant professional experience. The educational qualifications must be supported by documentation, including the medical degree and specialty certification.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience in the field of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Experience in emergency response, community health, and mobile health clinics in urban and/or rural areas is highly valued. Desirable experience includes medical care in contexts of natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies, health crises, or early recovery. Experience in epidemiological surveillance, primary health care in emergencies, and working in mobile health teams is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is required for this position. Practical knowledge of English is desirable. The proficiency in the required languages will be specifically assessed during the selection process, which may include written tests and/or oral evaluations.
