Job Overview:
This position involves consulting for the design of qualifications in the Extractive Mining and Petroleum Sector (EMCP). The consultant will be responsible for exploring and extracting information related to mining, quarries, oil, and gas, utilizing the National Qualifications Framework methodology. The role requires collaboration with a team of six consultants to develop a comprehensive framework that aligns with industry standards and educational requirements. The consultant will engage with stakeholders from both the productive and educational sectors to ensure that the qualifications meet the needs of the industry and contribute to sustainable practices in the extractive sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will have a range of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting thorough research on current qualifications in the EMCP sector; collaborating with other consultants to design a framework that meets national and international standards; engaging with industry stakeholders to gather insights and feedback; developing training materials and guidelines based on the qualifications framework; ensuring that the qualifications promote sustainability and safety in mining operations; providing recommendations for the implementation of the qualifications in educational institutions; and preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and proposals to UNDP and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a technical degree, technology degree, or professional degree in engineering or natural sciences. For professionals, a minimum of three years of experience in activities related to the mining and extractive sector is required, particularly in processes associated with mining exploitation, extraction and utilization of metallic and non-metallic minerals, underground mining, extractive sustainability, industrial and environmental safety in mining, or support activities for the operation of mines and quarries. For technologists or technicians, a minimum of five years of relevant experience is required in similar areas.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a technical or professional degree in engineering or natural sciences. This educational foundation is essential to understand the complexities of the mining and extractive sectors and to contribute effectively to the design of qualifications that align with industry needs.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position varies based on the educational background. Professionals are required to have at least three years of relevant experience, while technologists or technicians must have a minimum of five years of experience in the mining and extractive sectors. This experience should encompass a range of activities related to mining operations, sustainability practices, and safety protocols.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is Spanish, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this role.
