Job Overview:
The ADB Gender & Environmental Safeguards Gender Mainstreaming Technical Assistance (TA) position is designed to enhance the integration of gender considerations into environmental safeguards across various projects. The role involves providing technical assistance to ensure that gender issues are adequately addressed in project planning and implementation. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and government agencies to promote gender equality and empower women in development processes. This position requires a deep understanding of gender issues, environmental safeguards, and the ability to develop strategies that align with ADB's goals of sustainable development and poverty reduction.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance on gender mainstreaming in environmental safeguards for ADB projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess gender impacts and develop gender-responsive strategies.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for stakeholders on gender issues and environmental safeguards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender mainstreaming efforts in projects.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on gender-related findings and recommendations.
  • Engage with local communities and organizations to promote gender equality initiatives.
  • Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in gender and environmental safeguards.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in gender issues, particularly in relation to environmental safeguards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Familiarity with ADB's policies and procedures related to gender and environmental safeguards.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Gender Studies, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in gender mainstreaming or environmental management are advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gender mainstreaming, environmental safeguards, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations or development agencies is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract duration that may vary based on project needs. The position may involve travel to project sites within the United States and potentially other countries in the region.
