Job Overview:
The Analyst- Surveillance Intelligence plays a crucial role in the Ahmedabad project team, serving as the evidence backbone for decision-making processes. This position involves managing the full data lifecycle, which includes designing data collection tools, overseeing data quality, integrating secondary data sources, conducting spatial analysis, and producing key deliverables such as the Ward-Level Risk Atlas and early warning dashboard. The Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all data products are accurate, timely, and actionable for government counterparts. The role requires a strong understanding of spatial analysis tools and the ability to communicate complex data in a clear and accessible manner. The Analyst will work closely with the Program Manager and the Ward Surveillance officer to ensure high data quality and effective project outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst's responsibilities include compiling secondary datasets into a spatial database, designing and piloting data collection forms, coordinating with third-party vendors for drone surveys, reviewing video survey footage for environmental risk indicators, applying risk scoring frameworks to produce maps, and identifying peri-urban grey zones for city action plans. Additionally, the Analyst will conduct a surveillance reporting compliance review to measure the impact of upskilling on reporting behavior, perform stockpile gap assessments to ensure commodity availability, and build an early warning dashboard that integrates various data sources. The Analyst will also prepare data collection protocols, maintain the master spatial database, and contribute to knowledge products and reporting for the project.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in geography, geoinformatics, environmental science, public health, statistics, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in GIS or public health is preferred. The role requires 2-4 years of hands-on experience in spatial data work or health data analytics, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to produce maps and dashboards for real-world applications. Proficiency in QGIS or ArcGIS for spatial analysis, as well as experience with scripting environments like Python or R, is essential. Strong MS Excel skills for data management and reporting are also required, along with the ability to communicate spatial analysis outputs to non-GIS audiences.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as geography, geoinformatics, environmental science, public health, or statistics is required. A postgraduate qualification in GIS or public health is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
Experience:
The position requires 2-4 years of relevant experience in spatial data work or health data analytics. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing maps, risk visualizations, or dashboards that have informed program or government decisions. Experience in managing and integrating diverse data sources into a unified spatial database is also essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in either Gujarati or Hindi. This linguistic capability is crucial for effective communication within the local context and with government counterparts.
