Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Officer (Value Chain Analyst) position at WFP Bangladesh is focused on enhancing food systems and market systems as part of a broader strategy to support resilient and inclusive food security systems in Bangladesh. The role involves conducting a comprehensive Value Chain Analysis (VCA) across selected agricultural and livelihood sectors in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, specifically in Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying priority commodities and value chains that can improve livelihoods, resilience, food security, and market integration. This position requires a deep understanding of market systems, supply chains, and the relationships among various actors, including producers, traders, and institutional buyers. The role is critical in assessing constraints affecting value chain performance and providing actionable recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of WFP's interventions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct a comprehensive analysis of selected agricultural and livelihood value chains across Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban districts.
• Identify priority commodities and value chains with potential for improving livelihoods, resilience, food security, and market integration.
• Analyze market systems, supply chains, and actor relationships, including producers, traders, aggregators, transporters, processors, retailers, cooperatives, and institutional buyers.
• Assess key constraints and bottlenecks affecting value chain performance, including transport, aggregation, storage, market access, post-harvest management, price volatility, climate exposure, financing, and infrastructure limitations.
• Assess the functionality and accessibility of markets in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
• Identify opportunities for strengthening aggregation models, storage systems, rural logistics, market information systems, and buyer linkages.
• Assess gender, youth, protection, and social inclusion dimensions within selected value chains.
• Examine opportunities for local procurement and institutional market engagement, including potential linkages with school feeding, social protection, and humanitarian procurement systems where feasible.
• Identify opportunities for climate-smart and resilience-oriented interventions within targeted value chains. 1
• Provide practical, sustainable, and prioritized recommendations for WFP, Government counterparts, and partners. 1
• Perform tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in fields such as Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Rural Development, Development Studies, Economics, Food Systems, or any relevant field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of overall experience, including 3 years of professional experience in areas related to Value Chain Analysis, Market Systems Development, Rural Livelihoods, Agribusiness, Food Systems Programming, or other relevant fields. Within these 3 years of professional experience, a minimum of 1 year must be post-graduation experience. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of an Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent). Preferred fields of study include Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Rural Development, Development Studies, Economics, Food Systems, or any relevant field that provides a solid foundation for understanding agricultural and market systems.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role related to Value Chain Analysis, Market Systems Development, Rural Livelihoods, Agribusiness, or Food Systems Programming. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience after obtaining their postgraduate degree, demonstrating a solid track record in relevant fields.

Languages:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the region.

This position is offered under a Special Service Agreement (SSA) for a duration of 4 months, based in Rangamati. The vacancy is specifically for Bangladeshi Nationals.
