Job Overview:
The position of Energy Access Consultant within Mercy Corps' Energy 4 Impact initiative is designed to build a roster of specialists who will provide expert advisory services across various projects in Africa. The consultants will engage in a range of activities, including policy analysis, technical assistance for enterprises, investment facilitation, data analytics, and knowledge management. The overarching goal is to enhance clean energy access and promote sustainable livelihoods in underserved regions. Consultants will be expected to deliver high-quality, evidence-based insights and recommendations, strengthen project outcomes through targeted expertise, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Energy 4 Impact's programming. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work across multiple thematic areas, ensuring that the solutions provided are practical, innovative, and commercially viable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Energy Access Consultant include but are not limited to: conducting policy analysis and advisory services, drafting and refining policies and regulations, facilitating government-private sector dialogues, and advising on governance structures. Additionally, consultants will perform enterprise diagnostics, market analysis, and provide business strategy support. They will also engage in supply chain design, sales and marketing advisory, and assist in technology and product development. Financial modelling, capital raising facilitation, and carbon project development are also key responsibilities. Consultants will be involved in research and learning activities, including market diagnostics, designing studies, and producing knowledge products. They will report to the Head of Programs, Energy 4 Impact, and will be expected to deliver specific scopes of work as per assignment requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in energy access expertise relevant to the specific area they are applying for. They should have at least 3 years of professional experience working in African markets, with a strong understanding of local dynamics and institutional environments. Experience in managing relationships with advisory clients and a proven ability to provide actionable recommendations are essential. Candidates should also have excellent analytical skills, the ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative data, and strong communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French, Kiswahili, or Portuguese, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
