Job Overview:
The Lead Analyst position at Mercy Corps is designed to provide strategic analytical leadership for the organization's Crisis Analysis work specifically in Yemen. The consultant will be responsible for producing high-quality research and analytical outputs that focus on Yemen's political economy, conflict dynamics, humanitarian context, governance, and climate-related risks. This role requires close collaboration with the Regional MENAE Crisis Analysis Team and the Yemen Country Team to ensure that the analytical products directly inform Mercy Corps programming, donor engagement, business development, and strategic decision-making. The consultant will also work to strengthen Mercy Corps' evidence base on Yemen, ensuring that the insights generated are actionable and relevant for various stakeholders involved in humanitarian and development efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead Analyst will undertake a variety of tasks, including leading the coordination, drafting, and quality assurance of analytical products focused on Yemen. The consultant will conduct in-depth analyses of political economy, conflict, governance, market systems, and climate risks. Responsibilities also include producing context updates, briefings, presentations, and strategic analytical products that meet Mercy Corps' quality standards. The consultant will coordinate data collection efforts, conduct literature reviews, perform key informant interviews, and engage in secondary research. Additionally, the consultant will translate complex findings into practical recommendations for design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and adaptive management, collaborate with various teams within Mercy Corps, support proposal development and donor engagement, present findings to stakeholders, maintain contextual awareness of developments affecting humanitarian access and conflict dynamics, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to dissemination activities and organizational evidence generation.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Lead Analyst position should possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in fields such as political economy, conflict analysis, economics, international relations, humanitarian affairs, or related disciplines. They must demonstrate expertise in Yemen's political, economic, humanitarian, and conflict contexts, along with a strong track record of producing high-quality analytical and research products. Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills are essential, as well as strong analytical writing and editing capabilities in English. Candidates should also exhibit strong presentation and communication skills, experience engaging with donors, NGOs, UN agencies, or research institutions, and the ability to manage multiple analytical products and competing priorities effectively. Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills are also required.
Educational Background:
A Master's degree is preferred for this position, ideally in Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or another relevant discipline. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical framework and analytical skills required for the complex analyses expected in this role.

The position requires candidates to have substantial experience, specifically between 5 to 10 years, in areas related to political economy, conflict analysis, and humanitarian affairs. Languages:
