Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator will oversee the management of projects in Ulang, focusing on emergency and early recovery WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programming and emergency security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) support. This role includes acting as the delegated director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for the region, proposing and implementing regional strategies aligned with the geopolitical and humanitarian context. The Field Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that projects comply with SI's charter and internal procedures, mobilizing necessary resources, and supervising team security. The position requires engagement with various stakeholders, including authorities, NGOs, and UN agencies, to ensure a coordinated approach in a challenging security environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator's responsibilities include managing project implementation in Ulang, ensuring adherence to SI's operational standards, mobilizing resources for program execution, and overseeing team security. The role involves coordinating with local and international stakeholders, managing logistics, and addressing security concerns. The Field Coordinator will also need to operationalize delayed projects due to previous evacuations and lead engagement with political stakeholders and communities. Monitoring the volatile security situation and adapting strategies accordingly is crucial, as well as addressing logistical challenges related to access and geographical constraints.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with at least 3-4 years in a similar position. Technical skills should include a strong understanding of security management, team management, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent representational skills and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders, including INGOs, authorities, and donors.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in relevant fields such as humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, or management is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage complex humanitarian projects effectively.
Experience:
The position requires over 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a specific focus on roles similar to that of a Field Coordinator. Candidates should have at least 3-4 years of experience in a leadership position, demonstrating their capability to manage teams and projects in challenging environments.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

- The role is based in Sobat, South Sudan, where living conditions are basic and may involve shared accommodations with limited comfort. The salary starts from EUR 3,080 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses, and offers a break system during the assignment. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Candidates should be prepared for challenging living conditions and a volatile security context.
