Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support the WHO Regional Office in its efforts to strengthen integrated disease surveillance systems across countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region. This role involves assisting with documentation, knowledge management, and coordination of follow-up activities after a regional consultation focused on integrated disease surveillance using the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2). The volunteer will play a crucial role in analyzing survey reports, preparing workshop documentation, and translating materials between English and Arabic. This position is vital for ensuring effective communication and collaboration among participating countries and partners, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of disease surveillance capacities in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Conducting an analysis of the TB/HIV Malaria consultation survey report to extract key insights and findings.
• Compiling a comprehensive workshop report that includes proceedings, meeting summaries, and key action points discussed during the consultation.
• Translating four presentations and workshop materials from English to Arabic and vice versa to facilitate understanding among participants.
• Assisting in the preparation of a communication material or success story that highlights the efforts and outcomes of strengthening integrated disease surveillance systems.
• Maintaining effective communication with participating countries and partners to ensure smooth coordination of follow-up activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities in both English and Arabic, and a keen understanding of public health issues, particularly in the context of disease surveillance. Familiarity with the DHIS2 software and experience in documentation and translation are highly desirable. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment is essential, as is a commitment to the mission of WHO and public health improvement.

Educational Background:
A background in public health, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant academic qualifications that demonstrate their understanding of health systems and disease surveillance methodologies. Additional training or certifications in translation or documentation management would be advantageous.

Experience:
While prior experience in a similar role is beneficial, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in public health and experience in volunteer work or internships related to health or community service. Experience in working with international organizations or NGOs is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as the role involves translation and communication in both languages. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Eastern Mediterranean region would be considered an asset, enhancing the volunteer's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
