Job Overview:
The Anticipatory Action Coordinator for the W4R project plays a crucial role in managing the anticipatory action component of the project in Somalia. This position is responsible for ensuring that the project is implemented effectively, on time, and meets high-quality standards. The coordinator will work closely with key stakeholders, including the SWALIM, to support the development and implementation of anticipatory action initiatives. This includes project design, planning, and resource mobilization. The role requires active representation of the W4R program with local stakeholders, authorities, and partners, as well as national-level coordination platforms. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with policies and donor requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Anticipatory Action Coordinator include leading the overall management of the W4R anticipatory action project, ensuring timely and accountable implementation in line with objectives and budgets. The coordinator will facilitate awareness and understanding of anticipatory action approaches among stakeholders, monitor project progress, and implement corrective actions as needed. They will ensure compliance with W4R policies and donor requirements, conduct field visits for quality monitoring, and promote a culture of learning and accountability. Additionally, the coordinator will support the development of anticipatory action initiatives, oversee systems strengthening, provide technical leadership, and coordinate with emergency response teams. They will also represent W4R at local and national forums, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to strategic thinking and learning on anticipatory action programming.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Peace/security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, Social Sciences, International Development, Business Management, or a related field, with a Master's degree being desirable. A minimum of 5 years of international experience in disaster risk management or anticipatory action programming is required, preferably in conflict-affected regions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing anticipatory action projects, strong understanding of data-driven decision-making, and excellent stakeholder coordination skills. Familiarity with conflict-sensitive programming and the impacts of displacement on vulnerable populations is essential. The candidate must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a mandatory Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Peace/Security, Social Sciences, International Development, or Business Management. A Master's degree is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of international experience in disaster risk management or anticipatory action programming, particularly in conflict-affected regions. Candidates should have a strong background in designing and implementing anticipatory action projects, including the development of triggers and anticipatory action planning. Experience with data-driven decision-making, displacement forecasting models, and early warning systems is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance. The position is based in Mogadishu, Somalia, with frequent travel required to remote and isolated rural communities. The role demands a high degree of collaboration with program staff and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and priority setting.
