Job Overview:
The position of Driver within the UNDP is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the Programme for Accelerated Community Development (PACD). The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services to the operations and programme staff, as well as to consultants and UN staff on mission. This role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, as the Driver will be entrusted with the transportation of personnel and important documents. The Driver must also demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The position is integral to the successful implementation of the PACD model, which aims to address poverty and inequality at the community level in Gambia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver's duties and responsibilities include:

• Providing reliable and secure driving services, ensuring the safe transport of authorized personnel and the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items.
• Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, including handling visa and customs formalities when required.
• Attending and completing all relevant road safety training.
• Reporting all road safety-related incidents promptly.
• Maintaining accurate daily vehicle logs and providing inputs for vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
• Conducting timely minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as needed.
• Performing daily checks on the vehicle, including oil changes, tire pressure, battery levels, and cleanliness.
• Ensuring the availability of all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, such as insurance, vehicle logs, maps, and first aid kits.
• Taking immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of accidents. 1
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Driver position include:

• Completion of Secondary Education.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a driver, with a proven safe driving record.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency in oral and written English is mandatory, and knowledge of local languages such as Mandinka, Wolof, or Fula is considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Driver position is the completion of Secondary Education. This foundational education is essential for understanding and executing the responsibilities associated with the role, including vehicle management and adherence to safety protocols.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a driver. This experience should include a safe driving record and familiarity with driving rules and regulations. Additionally, candidates should possess skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance, which are critical for ensuring the reliability and safety of the vehicle used in the role.

Languages:
