Job Overview:
The Project Manager for the EPIC and STRIDES projects in Colombia will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Director by providing leadership in both technical implementation and operational management. This position is pivotal in coordinating project planning and overseeing implementation to ensure that all activities align with the project’s scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. The Project Manager will act as a key liaison between technical and operational teams, ensuring that all implementation activities are in line with project goals and donor expectations. This role also involves supporting business continuity, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and team development, making it essential for the successful execution of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of EPIC and STRIDES project activities, ensuring that technical, operational, financial, and contractual objectives are met. Key responsibilities include overseeing project planning, implementation, and performance monitoring to ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables. The Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, including technical, operational, finance, procurement, and administrative staff, to facilitate efficient project execution. Additionally, the role involves monitoring project risks and issues, proactively identifying challenges, and recommending corrective actions to senior leadership. The Project Manager will support the Project Director in strategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational requirements. They will also represent the Project Director in various meetings and discussions, prepare high-quality project reports and documentation, and coordinate project start-up, transition, and close-out activities.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of project management principles and practices, with a strong background in process development and execution. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated project and personnel management skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with others. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt and resolve issues to ensure project completion. Familiarity with project management software and technologies is also required.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in administration, engineering, social sciences, economics, development, law, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or its international equivalent is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and knowledge in relevant areas.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in project management, with at least 2+ years of line management experience. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization is essential, with a preference for candidates who have experience in international or domestic program development or project management.
Languages:
Professional proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory, along with fluency in Spanish, which is also required for effective communication within the project and with stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The expected hiring salary range for this role is COP 130,000,000 - 170,000,000 for annual basic salary for national local hire. FHI 360 considers various factors when determining an offer amount, including relevant years of experience and education, internal equity, market pay, and budget.
