Job Overview:
The Senior Associate Lead - Market Shaping will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and monitoring of WJCF's market shaping interventions. This role requires an analytically rigorous and entrepreneurial individual who can drive value chain analysis, pilot design, and policy advocacy while engaging with government, private sector, and civil society actors. The position is crucial in addressing the health crisis caused by lead exposure in India, particularly from leaded paints and used lead-acid batteries. The incumbent will work to develop strategies that limit environmental pollution and support manufacturers in transitioning to safer alternatives. This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, environmental health, and government engagement, reporting directly to the Associate Director of WJCF.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Chain Mapping and Buyer Engagement: Map the full procurement chain in target sectors, validate sectoral focus, assess regulatory standards, and engage with institutional buyers to understand battery specifications and procurement cycles.
  • TCO and Supplier Analysis: Conduct total cost of ownership analysis, supplier mapping, and assess local pricing and import dynamics.
  • End-of-Life and Recycler Flow Assessment: Map used lead-acid battery flows, assess end-of-life practices, and identify pathways to redirect ULABs to higher-standard recyclers.
  • Transition to Lead-Free Paints: Support the implementation of pilot interventions for industry transition to lead-free paints, addressing barriers and supply chain solutions.
  • Pilot Planning & Design: Develop detailed pilot blueprints, including implementation plans, resource requirements, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Donor Engagement and Reporting: Prepare progress reports, maintain program tracking tools, and support proposal development as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a postgraduate degree in environmental management, business administration, economics, or a related field. A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience is required, with a strong analytical core in market assessment, supply chain analysis, or policy analysis. Candidates should demonstrate experience in primary research, familiarity with India's regulatory environment, and possess strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Excellent communication skills are essential for producing high-quality reports and presentations for various audiences. An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently are also crucial.

Educational Background:

Experience:
