Job Overview:
The Information Systems Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation, administration, and support of both on-premises and cloud-based systems under the Education Microsoft tenant. This includes managing messaging and collaboration systems, content management platforms, and IT service management systems. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that all operational tasks related to infrastructure networking services, such as LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity in schools, are executed effectively. The role requires the incumbent to fulfill service level agreements (SLAs), identify and resolve system issues, manage user accounts for students and staff, and monitor system performance. Additionally, the officer will develop and maintain policies and procedures related to ICT4Education activities, liaise with vendors, assist with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">information security activities, and ensure compliance with IMT policies and industry standards. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to enhancing the educational experience through effective use of technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement, administer, and support enterprise on-premises and cloud systems under the Education Microsoft tenant, including messaging and collaboration systems, content management platforms, and IT service management systems.
  • Manage infrastructure networking services, ensuring operational tasks related to LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity in schools are fulfilled.
  • Fulfill service level agreements (SLAs) and resolve reported systems and operational issues in coordination with support teams.
  • Manage user accounts for students, teachers, and administrative staff, ensuring access to necessary digital educational resources.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for ongoing operations and business continuity, including system topologies and operating instructions.
  • Liaise with vendors and external agencies regarding technology deployment and management.
  • Assist with information security activities, including reporting exposures and implementing remediation recommendations.
  • Participate in enterprise service delivery support activities related to user account management and application systems.

Required Qualifications:
  • A university degree from an accredited institution in information technology, information management, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • MCSA and/or MCSE or related certification, along with IT Service Management certification such as ITIL foundation.
  • Certification in Microsoft Office 365 Administration, Azure, SharePoint Online, or other related Microsoft cloud-based systems and applications.
  • A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in designing, implementing, and administering Microsoft server technologies and collaboration systems, including two years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with digital learning tools and platforms is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based desktop technology and Microsoft Office software suite, with knowledge of ITIL principles and processes.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in fields such as information technology, information management, computer science, or other related disciplines. Additionally, relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, and ITIL foundation are required, along with certifications in Microsoft Office 365 Administration, Azure, and SharePoint Online.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in the design, implementation, and administration of Microsoft server technologies, messaging and collaboration systems software, and Active Directory. This experience should include at least two years in a supervisory position managing IT infrastructure services. Familiarity with digital learning tools and platforms is considered an asset, as is experience working in an ITIL-driven environment.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages, as per the UN Language Framework. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The appointment for this position is limited to UNRWA - Information Management - Syria. It is a daily paid assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position is classified at Grade 15, with a daily rate of $38.69, which may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. Only candidates residing in Syria and authorized to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity.
