Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the Infectious Disease AI and Data Governance portfolio within the IRC's CRRD Technical Excellence division. This position involves day-to-day project coordination, operational support, regulatory compliance, data governance management, dataset expansion, and curriculum/training support. The Project Coordinator will ensure that work plans are adhered to, administrative bottlenecks are resolved, and that the Senior Specialist, Dr. Megan Coffee, can focus on strategic delivery. The portfolio focuses on developing diagnostic tools for diseases that have been historically overlooked by AI, with specific emphasis on pediatric chest X-rays, skin lesions, and microscopy for various infectious diseases. The role requires a proactive approach to managing multiple workstreams and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining portfolio work plans, trackers, and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into project milestones, risks, and decisions. They will navigate IRC's internal administrative, procurement, legal, and HR systems to ensure that ethical reviews and data use agreements are completed efficiently. The Coordinator will proactively identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and liaise with grants and finance teams for budget tracking. They will also manage knowledge management systems to ensure project teams have timely access to necessary documentation. In terms of regulatory compliance and data governance, the Coordinator will act as the primary IRB PI Proxy, drafting and submitting protocol applications, coordinating Data Use Agreements, and supporting the design of data governance frameworks. Additionally, they will coordinate the identification and extraction of clinical image data, manage secure transfers of medical image datasets, and oversee data collection processes. The role also involves drafting multilingual training curricula for healthcare workers, managing curriculum consultants, and supporting usability studies on clinician adoption of AI diagnostic tools. The Coordinator will facilitate communication between IRC country programs and AI research teams, coordinate logistics for meetings and forums, and provide administrative support including scheduling and onboarding new team members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft professional updates and communicate effectively across diverse cultures. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing multiple workstreams, building work plans, and meeting deadlines. A comfort level with data systems and dataset management is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and spreadsheet management. An understanding of global health initiatives and clinical diagnostics in low-resource settings is also necessary. While not required, familiarity with user interface design for health workers is a plus.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Global Affairs, Bioethics, Healthcare Administration, Data Science, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of project coordination in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
Candidates should have 3-6 years of relevant project coordination experience, preferably within a large international NGO, humanitarian organization, or academic medical center. Experience in fragile or humanitarian health settings, particularly related to infectious diseases, is highly desirable. The ability to navigate bureaucratic environments with patience and tenacity is crucial, as is direct experience with drafting or managing IRB protocols and data-sharing agreements.

Languages:
While proficiency in English is mandatory, professional working proficiency in French is preferred. This bilingual capability will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and facilitate the development of multilingual training materials.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote position open to internal candidates based in countries where IRC operates, provided they have the right to work in their location. Successful candidates will be hired on a local employment contract and compensated according to the local salary scale. The role is open to candidates located in the United States, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. Compensation varies based on location, with US pay rates ranging from $75,000 to $90,000 per year and UK pay rates between £46,988 and £54,820 per year.
