Job Overview:
The NATO Geo Technician / Geospatial Data Modelling Manager position is integral to the J2 Division, which provides critical geospatial, meteorological, and oceanographic support to NATO operations. The incumbent will be responsible for managing location-based information data architecture and developing detailed data schemas to facilitate data-centric operations. This role requires a deep understanding of data management, systems handling, and data schema development, ensuring that NATO's data exploitation policies are adhered to. The position also involves liaising with various stakeholders to enhance data interoperability and governance, making complex information accessible to non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that NATO operates effectively with coherent geospatial data across its operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The principal duties of the incumbent include: 1) Contributing to data management and metadata management, including the assessment of Location-Based Information across NATO Communities of Interest (COIs). 2) Managing data on exchange platforms and contributing to their effective use. 3) Developing coherent data schemas and data models to support geospatial operations. 4) Facilitating communication among data owners to improve interoperability and implement NATO standards. 5) Liaising with key stakeholders across SHAPE and the Alliance. 6) Communicating complex technological concepts to non-technical audiences. 7) Understanding and applying data governance principles in relation to organizational structures. Additional tasks may include exploring innovative data solutions and effectively communicating data insights to inform decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in geospatial intelligence and data management. They should have a strong background in producing quality-assured geospatial information and analyzing information structures. Familiarity with metadata management and data governance is essential. The ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and communicate effectively is also required. Candidates should demonstrate initiative and the capacity to engage with implied tasks beyond specified duties.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include higher secondary education with completed vocational training in geography, computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field. Candidates should have a formal technical or professional certification and relevant post-related experience. Alternatively, secondary education with advanced vocational training leading to professional accreditation is acceptable, provided the candidate has 5 years of related experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in geospatial intelligence and data management. Candidates should have a proven track record in producing geospatial information and managing data structures effectively. Experience in developing Geographic Information Systems is desirable but not mandatory.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a required SPL (Standardized Proficiency Level) of 3333 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The successful candidate will be appointed as a Project Related NATO International Civilian (PLN) with a three-year definite duration contract under the NATO 2030 Agenda. The position is full-time, and the salary will be based on the NATO Grade of the post, with potential allowances based on eligibility.
