Job Overview:
The National coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator will play a crucial role in the FAO African SIDS Programme, which aims to strengthen agrifood systems in African Small Island Developing States. This position involves strategic planning, project coordination, and capacity development within the Interregional Technical Network (ITN). The coordinator will be responsible for facilitating knowledge exchange and technical cooperation among stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, and private sector representatives. The role requires a focus on agrifood systems governance, climate resilience, market access, and the empowerment of women and youth in improving nutrition. The coordinator will also oversee the delivery of coaching programs and ensure effective communication and documentation of innovative solutions within the SIDS context.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Technical Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in economics, social sciences, business, or a related field. Additionally, they should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in project monitoring, program management, or policy analysis, preferably within the agricultural sector. A working knowledge (level C) of both English and French is required, along with the nationality of Mauritius. Candidates should also demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills, computer literacy, and the ability to provide leadership and motivation to a team.
Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as economics, social sciences, or business. Candidates must ensure that their educational qualifications are recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED), which is maintained by the International Association of Universities (IAU) and UNESCO.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in areas such as project monitoring, program management, or policy analysis, with a strong preference for experience in the agricultural sector. This extensive experience is crucial for effectively managing the complexities of agrifood systems and addressing the unique challenges faced by African SIDS.
Languages:
Candidates must have a working knowledge (level C) of both English and French, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders across the African SIDS region. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

- Overseeing the Agrifood Public–Private Partnership Coalition (AgriPP) and maintaining an investment tracker to monitor funding and resources.
- Delivering the Coaching Programme, 'Elevating Excellence in National Project Operations,' with a focus on results management.
- Facilitating synergies between the PRESAN initiative and the Hand-in-Hand (HiH) Initiative to promote investment facilitation.
- Documenting and promoting SIDS Innovative Solutions through mini grants and visibility initiatives.
- Supporting project capitalization and ensuring readiness for project closure throughout the implementation phase.
