Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include the overall strategic development, implementation, and management of Welthungerhilfe's country program. You will represent the organization and coordinate program strategies and activities with government authorities, local decision-makers, partner organizations, donors, and other humanitarian and development actors. Leading the development of country strategies, program concepts, project proposals, and planning documents for new and follow-on projects will be key. You will identify, establish, and strengthen strategic partnerships, developing joint initiatives and program opportunities. Overseeing the recruitment, development, and retention of qualified national staff and experts will be part of your role, as will providing leadership, guidance, and performance management to both national and international staff, fostering a high-performing, accountable, and inclusive team culture. You will ensure effective planning and management of financial, human, and material resources, including timely and high-quality reporting to the Regional Directorate and donors. Furthermore, you will ensure effective communication, knowledge sharing, and transparency regarding Welthungerhilfe's program activities and impact within the country.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree, preferably a Master's degree, in a relevant field. A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in international development and/or humanitarian cooperation is essential, along with 7–9 years of management experience that demonstrates strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and intercultural competence. Candidates should have experience in program management, partnership development, and donor-funded projects, as well as strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills. An understanding of the growing value of data within organizations and support for evidence-based decision-making is also necessary. Additionally, candidates must be ready to receive the necessary vaccinations for travel to Welthungerhilfe's program countries.
Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a university degree, with a preference for a Master's degree in a relevant field related to international development or humanitarian work. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and the challenges faced in the field.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in international development and/or humanitarian cooperation, with a strong emphasis on management experience. Candidates should have 7–9 years of management experience that showcases their leadership abilities, emotional intelligence, and intercultural competence. Experience in program management, partnership development, and working on donor-funded projects is essential to succeed in this role.
Languages:
Professional proficiency in both French and English is mandatory for this position. These language skills are crucial for effective communication with stakeholders, partners, and team members in Madagascar and beyond. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes:
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until December 31, 2027, and there are very good prospects for an extension. The employment location will be in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
