Job Overview:
The engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Civil Engineer position is pivotal in driving the successful delivery of infrastructure projects in Sint Maarten. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to oversee various engineering tasks, ensuring that all works comply with established design specifications and safety regulations. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for supervising construction activities, coordinating with contractors, and providing guidance on technical issues that may arise during project execution. This position also involves conducting site inspections, preparing reports, and collaborating with other engineering professionals to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying potential challenges and proposing effective solutions, thereby contributing to the overall success of the organization’s infrastructure initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to contractors and project teams.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and prepare detailed reports on project progress.
  • Collaborate with other engineering professionals to develop project plans and schedules.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in project execution and propose solutions.
  • Ensure that all engineering works are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including government agencies and community members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in civil engineering practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in civil engineering, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design standards, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in engineering software and tools relevant to civil engineering.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in project management or specialized engineering disciplines will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development and training in the latest engineering practices are encouraged and may be required.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects. Experience in supervising construction works and managing project teams is essential. Familiarity with local regulations and standards in Sint Maarten is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch or Papiamento is considered a strong asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance project execution.
