Job Overview: The IDB Country Office in the Bahamas is seeking an active graduate student to join as an intern under the Consultant modality. This internship is a paid opportunity designed for university students from member countries, providing them with valuable insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. The intern will engage in economic-operational research, database management, and analysis, contributing to the office's efforts in promoting and developing country strategies and programming. The role involves working closely with the Country Economist and other economists on various projects, enhancing the intern's understanding of the Bank's operations and the economic landscape of The Bahamas.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Data Collection Activities: Assisting in conducting interviews and focus groups for qualitative data collection, which involves scheduling sessions, preparing interview guides, and taking notes.
Data Management: Accurately entering and cleaning collected data, ensuring it is well organized and securely stored.
Data Analysis Support: Conducting preliminary data analysis, generating descriptive statistics, and visualizing data to identify patterns and trends.
Reporting and Documentation: Contributing to drafting project reports, summarizing findings, and preparing presentation materials for stakeholders.
Administrative and Logistical Support: Coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining project documentation to ensure everything is up to date and organized.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be active graduate students enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program in fields such as economics, statistics, computer science, or public administration. They should demonstrate proficiency in English, with a working knowledge of Spanish preferred. Additionally, candidates should possess strong soft skills, including being result-driven, collaborative, innovative, and client-oriented, along with technical skills in research design, quantitative data analysis, and clear communication.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be active graduate students at an accredited university, with a graduation date that does not precede the end of the internship. A minimum of 50% of coursework must be completed at the time of applying, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in their field of study.
Experience: This internship is designed for first-time participants in the IDB Group's Internship Program. Candidates should not have previous experience as staff members, contractors, or service providers for the Bank or IDB Invest, ensuring a fresh perspective and new ideas are brought into the organization.
