GBV Team Leader (Case management and PSS)

Job Overview:
The GBV Team Leader position at DRC is pivotal in implementing a comprehensive Gender-Based Violence (GBV) program across Sudan. The primary focus of this role is on prevention, risk mitigation, and response to GBV, ensuring that survivors receive safe, confidential, and survivor-centered care. The program also integrates targeted psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (PSS) interventions to address the emotional and psychological needs of GBV survivors and affected populations. The GBV Team Leader will be responsible for the high-quality delivery of integrated GBV and PSS services, providing technical supervision for GBV prevention and response programming. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and strategic guidance to effectively deliver survivor-centered interventions for vulnerable populations at risk.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GBV Team Leader will enforce a strong supervision role in GBV case management and the delivery of PSS activities, which includes coaching, mentoring, and shadowing team members. Responsibilities include conducting regular case file audits and survivor-centered capacity assessments, carrying out periodic mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) capacity assessments, and supporting the development of capacity-building plans for GBV and PSS staff. The leader will oversee data collection and ensure proper information management in line with sensitive data protection protocols. Additionally, the role involves managing and supervising facilitators and community volunteers, overseeing the provision of dignity kits, conducting GBV risk assessments and safety audits, and ensuring GBV mainstreaming across non-protection sectors within DRC. The GBV Team Leader will also manage the implementation of high-quality case management services for GBV survivors and individuals with specific needs, ensuring compliance with DRC processes, SOPs, and protocols. The position requires leading field assessments, safety audits, coordination with partners, referrals, and capacity-building initiatives, while also supporting project planning and maintaining oversight of DRC WGSS field spaces. Technical support, staff management, grant implementation, and reporting are also key responsibilities of this role, along with monitoring and evaluation to ensure targets are met in line with DRC and donor requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have proven experience of at least three years in GBV case management, with demonstrated experience in team supervision and leadership. A strong understanding and application of the survivor-centered approach is essential, along with experience handling high-risk cases. Familiarity with displacement contexts, such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and refugees, is considered an advantage. Candidates should also exhibit a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards, possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word and Excel is also required.

Educational Background:
The essential educational qualification for this position is a university degree in Gender Studies, Psychology, Social Sciences, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, Humanitarian Affairs, or a similar field. Additional certifications or licenses relevant to the field may also be beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in GBV case management, with a strong emphasis on leadership and team supervision. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in challenging environments and managing sensitive cases effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role requires effective communication with various stakeholders. Knowledge of Arabic or other local languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with the community and understand their needs better.
