Job Overview: The National Consultant – IT Systems Monitoring Consultant position is designed to support the UNDP in Tonga by providing expert advice and services related to IT systems monitoring. The consultant will be responsible for assessing the current IT systems in place, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing monitoring strategies to ensure the systems are functioning effectively and efficiently. The assignment is expected to last for a total of 80 days, during which the consultant will engage in various activities including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant – IT Systems Monitoring Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting a comprehensive assessment of existing IT systems used by UNDP in Tonga.
Developing a monitoring framework that outlines key performance indicators for IT systems.
Implementing monitoring tools and techniques to track the performance of IT systems.
Analyzing data collected from monitoring activities to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
Preparing detailed reports on the findings of the monitoring activities, including recommendations for enhancements.
Collaborating with UNDP staff and local stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of monitoring strategies.
Providing training and support to UNDP staff on best practices for IT systems monitoring.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the monitoring process.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the National Consultant – IT Systems Monitoring Consultant position include:
Proven experience in IT systems monitoring, data analysis, and reporting.
Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an advantage.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. A master’s degree or equivalent professional certification in IT systems management or monitoring would be considered an asset.
Experience: The level of experience needed for the National Consultant – IT Systems Monitoring Consultant position includes at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT systems monitoring, data management, and analysis. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Tonga would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultant's work.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 80 days. The consultant is expected to work on a full-time basis during this period. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
