Job Overview:
The position involves contributing to the Central Asian alliance aimed at ending gender-based violence by enhancing the database of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and gender experts. The volunteer will play a crucial role in updating and improving this database, which is vital for identifying key stakeholders, building strategic partnerships, and supporting evidence-based programming across Central Asia. The database serves multiple purposes, including stakeholder mapping, outreach, project design, and coordination of activities such as consultations, capacity-building programs, and advocacy campaigns. By ensuring the database is accurate and comprehensive, the organization can effectively engage with relevant partners and respond to emerging needs and opportunities in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will undertake several key tasks, including conducting online research to gather updated information on CSOs and gender experts from official websites, professional networks, and other publicly available sources. They will verify the accuracy and reliability of the collected information before updating the database. Additionally, they will review and update existing entries, ensuring that organization names, contact details, areas of expertise, geographic coverage, and key activities are current. Volunteers will also identify and add new organizations and gender experts to the database, standardize entries for consistency, and review the database for duplicates or inaccuracies. They will document sources used for data collection and prepare a brief summary of key updates and recommendations upon completion of the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong research skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Familiarity with gender issues and civil society organizations in Central Asia is highly desirable. Proficiency in using online research tools and databases is essential. Volunteers should also have good organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, gender studies, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of gender equality issues and the role of civil society in promoting women's rights.

Experience:
While prior experience in database management or research is beneficial, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and an understanding of the challenges faced by women in Central Asia.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Russian or other local languages spoken in Central Asia is considered an asset. Strong written communication skills are essential for documenting findings and preparing reports.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position requiring a commitment of 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The deliverable deadline is set for the Friday before 17:00 Almaty time. Regular check-ins will occur via Microsoft Teams, and status updates will be communicated via email every two days. Volunteers will collaborate on shared documents using Google Drive.
