Job Overview:
The Anti-Human Trafficking Associate will play a vital role in supporting UNODC's initiatives in Mexico aimed at preventing and combating trafficking in persons (TIP). This position is framed by the Blue Heart Campaign and aligns with the United Nations Convention against Organized Crime and its Protocols. The Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector, particularly those in the tourism industry, to develop comprehensive programs and public policies addressing TIP. The role requires collaboration with a dynamic team in Mexico City, which possesses extensive knowledge of the subject matter and is committed to building partnerships to effectively tackle human trafficking in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Anti-Human Trafficking Associate will undertake a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the UNODC Head of Office. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the preparation of technical materials, such as presentations tailored for different audiences.
  • Contributing to the drafting of concept notes and briefing papers for various donors and stakeholders.
  • Participating in meetings with key stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the private sector.
  • Assisting in the identification of new partners and potential donors, particularly in industries that may have direct relations with potential victims of trafficking.
  • Supporting the organization of training workshops and activities led by UNODC.
  • Accompanying UNODC staff to meetings with government counterparts, CSOs, and the private sector, providing support in drafting meeting minutes and following up on agreements.
  • Participating in UN inter-agency meetings focused on human trafficking and related crimes, such as migrant smuggling. During the initial month of the assignment, the Associate will collaborate closely with their supervisor to finalize a work plan outlining key objectives and activities, including regular check-ins to review progress and receive feedback.

Required Qualifications:
