Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) for Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic is part of the Department of Global Communication and Strategy Division. The UNIC serves as the primary information source for the United Nations System in the countries it operates, promoting understanding of the Secretary-General's priorities and the impact of the UN's work. The organization is dedicated to enhancing communication and advocacy functions within the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and Resident Coordination Office (RCO).

Job Overview:
The Audio-Visual Intern position at UNIC Mexico is designed for individuals looking to gain practical experience in communication and outreach within a global organization. The intern will work under the supervision of the UNIC’s Director and/or the National Information Officer (NIO), contributing to various communication initiatives. The internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of 35 hours per week for a duration of six months. The intern will assist in the design and implementation of UN communication campaigns, support public information activities, and contribute to social media content development, all aimed at enhancing the visibility of the UN's work in Mexico.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Assisting in the design and support of at least one UN communication or outreach campaign led by CINU Mexico.
  • Contributing to the organization of at least three public information or communication activities, focusing on outreach and visibility.
  • Drafting and developing a minimum of three social media campaigns, including multimedia content preparation for CINU Mexico’s social media platforms.
  • Developing and scheduling weekly social media content that highlights UN observances and activities.
  • Producing regular news bulletins and media updates that showcase key communication initiatives and events.
  • Assisting in the production or editing of audiovisual and graphic materials to support digital visibility and outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship, such as social sciences, journalism, communications, audiovisual communications, social media management, marketing, advertising, or multimedia production. Additionally, applicants should have a good working knowledge of standard office software applications, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, as well as multimedia production tools like Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or Canva.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Fields of study should be closely related to the internship, emphasizing social sciences, communications, or multimedia production.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship position. However, relevant academic experience or coursework in fields related to communications, social media, or audiovisual production is expected.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written Spanish is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Fluency in English is desirable but not mandatory.

This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Mexico may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
