Job Overview: The Logistics and Finance Assistant for the Southern base operates under the authority of the Logistics and Finance Manager for the Southern zone (Marseille, Toulouse, Montpellier) and collaborates with program teams, including technical EHA (Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation), menstrual poverty alleviation, and community mobilization. The internship aims to provide insight into the mission of an NGO and understand the relationship between headquarters, coordination, and field operations. Interns will discover field activities across various intervention sites, learn about different professions in the field, understand the functioning of a mission and its constraints, and explore the relationships between various associative actors. They will also learn and practice different purchasing procedures, project management tracking, and financial tracking tools.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities include assisting the logistics and finance manager in understanding the market and updating purchasing tools in compliance with donor regulations. The intern will ensure program and logistics orders, monitor purchases, manage the transport and storage of goods before technical teams intervene, assist in seeking donations for hygiene kits, archive and centralize logistics documents, update accounting journals, and manage invoicing and prepayments. Specific tasks include assisting in market studies and supplier searches, preparing purchase files via the LINK platform, ensuring proper receipt of purchases, facilitating transportation of goods, participating in logistical reporting, and archiving purchase documents. The intern will also assist in organizing travel for team members, manage fuel movements, conduct inventory checks, and participate in the distribution of hygiene kits. In terms of accounting, the intern will compile individual credit card tracking, verify and archive supporting documents, and contribute to monthly and annual accounting closures. Financial management tasks include verifying budget tracking and assisting in financial audits.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have a background in humanitarian logistics, accounting and/or financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. They must possess administrative capabilities to undertake an internship in France, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel), strong analytical and writing skills, good synthesis and prioritization abilities, proactivity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. An interest in the context of water access in France is also essential, along with a commitment to the principles and work of Solidarités International. A C1 level in French is mandatory, and a driving license (Permis B) is required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree or training in humanitarian logistics, accounting, financial management, project management, development studies, international relations, or political science.
