Job Overview: The Senior Technical Advisor - Energy Access is responsible for designing and implementing strategies that enhance energy access in various communities. This role involves working closely with local partners and stakeholders to identify energy needs and develop sustainable solutions. The advisor will focus on integrating renewable energy technologies and ensuring that energy access initiatives align with Mercy Corps' broader goals of improving livelihoods and promoting economic development. The position requires a strong understanding of energy systems, project management, and the ability to engage with diverse communities to foster collaboration and innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement energy access strategies that align with Mercy Corps' mission and objectives.
Collaborate with local partners to assess energy needs and identify sustainable solutions.
Design and manage projects that promote renewable energy technologies and improve energy access for underserved communities.
Conduct research and analysis to inform energy access initiatives and ensure they are data-driven.
Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to foster partnerships and collaboration.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of energy access projects, providing recommendations for improvement.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project outcomes and lessons learned to internal and external audiences.
Stay informed about trends and developments in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and energy access.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy access, renewable energy, or related fields.
Proven track record of managing projects and programs in energy access or related sectors.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience working in international development or humanitarian contexts is preferred.
Familiarity with energy policies and regulations in the regions where Mercy Corps operates.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Engineering, International Development, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree is preferred and may be advantageous for candidates seeking to advance in this role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in energy access or renewable energy projects. Experience in managing international development projects and working with diverse teams is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in energy access in developing countries is essential.
Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the regions where Mercy Corps operates is a plus, as it can enhance communication with local partners and communities.
Additional Notes: This position may require occasional travel to support country programs, including travel to areas with limited amenities.
