Job Overview: The Director of AI and Digital Workplace Platforms is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategy, operations, and staff enablement related to the IRC's digital workplace tools and AI platforms. This position is crucial as the IRC invests in enterprise AI and modern workplace tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its programs and operations. The director will set the direction for how tools like Microsoft 365, Box, Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Power Platform are managed, adopted, and governed across a globally distributed workforce. The role involves collaborating with various departments, including IT and People & Culture, to ensure that the tools used by staff provide real value and improve overall organizational performance. The director will also be responsible for driving measurable adoption of AI tools and ensuring that the organization remains current with industry trends in enterprise AI and workplace technology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Digital Workplace & AI Platform Strategy (25%): Define and maintain the roadmap for the digital workplace stack, evaluate new tools and platform capabilities, build business cases for platform investments, and track industry trends.
Vendor & Platform Operations (20%): Manage day-to-day vendor operations, oversee license management, ensure platform configurations meet organizational standards, and monitor platform health and usage trends.
AI Adoption & Enablement (25%): Drive adoption of AI tools, define success metrics for AI adoption, partner with change management and training leadership, and collect user feedback.
Governance & Compliance (15%): Contribute to AI governance processes, ensure platform usage aligns with organizational policies, and maintain documentation of platform configurations.
Team Leadership & Operations (15%): Lead and manage the Digital Workplace team, set priorities, manage workload, and maintain the help resource library.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 8 years of experience in IT, enterprise applications, or digital workplace roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position managing a team. They should have experience setting platform or product strategy in an enterprise environment, a track record of building business cases and managing budgets for technology investments, and the ability to translate organizational needs into a clear platform roadmap. Additionally, candidates should possess deep working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and experience with at least two of the following platforms: Box, Power Platform, Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Administration is required. A master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred, as it demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates should have extensive experience in managing digital workplace tools and platforms, with a strong focus on AI adoption and enablement. They should have hands-on experience with enterprise AI tools and a proven ability to drive technology adoption across a large, distributed organization. Experience in a nonprofit, international development, or humanitarian sector IT environment is preferred but not mandatory.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the IRC's operational regions, is considered a plus and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This position is remote, with the possibility of in-person work depending on location. It is open to internal candidates based in countries where the IRC operates, who have the right to work in their location. Successful candidates will be hired on a local employment contract and according to local salary scales. The compensation for this role varies based on location, with a US pay rate ranging from $158,492 to $184,536 per year, and a UK pay rate ranging from £77,499 to £93,814 per year.
