Job Overview:
The Research Analyst for Economic Development in Punjab will play a crucial role in supporting the UNDP's initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the region. The analyst will be expected to conduct thorough research, analyze economic trends, and provide recommendations that align with UNDP's mission of promoting sustainable development. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing reports, presenting findings, and contributing to the overall strategic planning of economic initiatives in Punjab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive research on economic development issues in Punjab, including labor markets, investment opportunities, and policy impacts.
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and inform decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on economic development initiatives.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of economic development programs and policies.
• Provide technical assistance and support to government agencies and partners in implementing economic strategies.
• Stay updated on national and international economic trends that may impact the region.
• Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to represent UNDP and share knowledge on economic development.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and economic indicators.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing and presentations.
• Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of economic development theories and practices, particularly in the context of developing countries.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and engage with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered. Additional certifications in data analysis or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in economic research, analysis, or development projects is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a governmental context is preferred. Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of Punjab or Pakistan is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Urdu or Punjabi is highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and the assignment is expected to last for 220 days over a period of 12 months. The role is full-time and requires the candidate to be based in Punjab, Pakistan.
