Job Overview:
The Asia Division of Human Rights Watch is looking for two interns who are either undergraduate or graduate students to join their Sydney office. The primary focus of the internship will be on projects related to both domestic and international human rights issues in Australia. The ideal candidates should be available for part-time work, approximately 15-20 hours per week, for a duration of three months, starting in late August or early September 202

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for conducting background desk research on human rights issues, monitoring press coverage relevant to the Asia region, and updating lists related to ongoing projects. They will assist with outreach tasks aimed at raising awareness about human rights in Australia and may be assigned additional projects that align with their interests and skills. The role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work independently while also collaborating with HRW staff and other interns.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled students for the entire duration of the internship. Strong organizational skills, a proactive attitude towards projects, and reliability are essential. A demonstrated interest in international human rights is required, along with experience in media, social media, government relations, event planning, and familiarity with Sales Force being beneficial. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office, is strongly preferred. Additionally, applicants must possess valid work authorization in Australia for the duration of the internship.

Educational Background:
