Job Overview:
The Development & Outreach Department Intern position at Human Rights Watch in Sydney offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a prominent international non-profit organization. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of outreach and development-related tasks, including but not limited to: utilizing databases to assist with event planning; supporting fundraising and outreach events; collaborating with team members to engage individual donors, foundations, and corporations primarily in Sydney and Melbourne; and undertaking additional projects that align with the intern's interests and skills. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in HRW's daily office activities, attend meetings, and engage with external stakeholders, enhancing their understanding of the non-profit sector and human rights advocacy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this internship should be tertiary students currently enrolled in a relevant academic program for the duration of the internship. Strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to projects, and a demonstrated interest in international human rights are essential. Experience in fundraising, media relations, social media, government relations, event planning, and familiarity with Salesforce is highly desirable. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office, is strongly preferred. Additionally, applicants must possess valid work authorization in Australia for the entire internship period.
