Job Overview:
The National Coordinator will oversee the management and coordination of the Joint Programme 'Accelerating Progress towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment' (JP RWEE) in Tanzania. This five-year initiative is a collaborative effort involving FAO, IFAD, UN Women, and WFP, aimed at improving the livelihoods, rights, and resilience of rural women. The role requires close collaboration with technical focal points from the participating agencies to ensure effective implementation of the programme, which focuses on enhancing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, increasing incomes, empowering women’s voices, and fostering a gender-responsive policy environment. The National Coordinator will also represent the programme to government and external stakeholders, ensuring visibility and effective communication of the programme's goals and achievements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Coordinator will lead the coordination mechanisms of the JP RWEE, managing both internal and external partnerships. Key responsibilities include organizing monthly meetings with the Technical Working Group, coordinating National Steering Committee meetings, and facilitating multi-stakeholder forums. The Coordinator will ensure timely programme implementation, oversee the development of annual work plans and budgets, and monitor programme performance indicators. Additionally, the role involves leading monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing among stakeholders. The Coordinator will also supervise the MEAL Coordinator and identify capacity-building opportunities for partners, ensuring effective communication and visibility of the programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Behavioral Economics, Sociology, Agriculture, Rural Development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with over five years of relevant work experience and/or training is acceptable. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in programme management, particularly in the context of gender equality and rural development, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Gender Studies, Behavioral Economics, Sociology, Agriculture, or Rural Development is required. A first university degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered sufficient for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in programme management, particularly in areas related to gender equality, rural development, or international development assistance. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is an advantage, as is familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is mandatory, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and based in Tanzania, specifically within the lead agency, WFP. The National Coordinator will report to the Head of Food Systems and Market Access and will also be accountable to the Global Coordinator based in Rome. The role involves significant collaboration with various stakeholders, including government representatives and implementing partners.
