Job Overview: The Driver position at FHI 360 is primarily responsible for providing transportation services to staff members, ensuring they reach their meetings, appointments, and field visits safely and on time. The role also encompasses various administrative duties that support the operational efficiency of the organization. The incumbent will be expected to maintain the program vehicle in excellent condition, adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws. This position requires a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and record-keeping, as well as the ability to assist with office errands and administrative tasks as needed. The Driver will play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth operation of FHI 360's activities in Port Moresby, contributing to the overall mission of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will be responsible for the following duties: driving staff to various locations including meetings, appointments, and field visits; ensuring the vehicle is well-maintained, registered, and safe; keeping the vehicle clean and in good running condition; maintaining a log book of vehicle usage and reporting to the supervisor weekly; adhering to traffic rules and regulations; reporting any vehicle damage or accidents immediately; collecting requests for office supplies; running office errands such as message delivery and pickups; assisting with photocopying, scanning, printing, and typing tasks; cleaning all areas of the FHI Country office; assisting with workstation dismantling and assembling; and performing any other relevant duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess safe driving skills and experience, have completed at least grade 12, hold a current class 6 driver’s license, and provide a recent police and medical clearance. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate good judgment, pleasant interpersonal skills, and a neat and tidy appearance. Proficiency in English communication is essential, and the ability to take initiative is highly valued.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of grade 1
This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the candidate possesses basic literacy and numeracy skills, which are essential for performing the job duties effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in driving, particularly in a professional capacity. Experience in maintaining vehicles and understanding of vehicle safety protocols is also required. The ability to navigate the local area and knowledge of traffic regulations will be beneficial for this role.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with staff and stakeholders is crucial. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Port Moresby, National Capital District, and offers an expected hiring salary range of PGK 18,100 - 23,000 for annual basic salary. The compensation will be determined based on various factors including relevant experience and education.
