Job Overview:
The Senior Nutrition Technical Officer will play a crucial role in the EpiC MNCH+N project, which aims to enhance nutrition, maternal, newborn, and child health, as well as immunization outcomes in the Zambezia and Nampula provinces of Mozambique. This position is pivotal in providing technical leadership to ensure the quality, integration, and scale-up of priority nutrition interventions across health facilities and community platforms. The officer will oversee all nutrition activities, ensuring that they align with national guidelines and global best practices. The role involves supporting government and partner training initiatives, ensuring quality care delivery, and building local government capacity for clinical supervision. The Senior Nutrition Technical Officer will also be responsible for conducting routine analyses of program performance, identifying gaps, and proposing evidence-based adaptations to improve service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Nutrition Technical Officer include providing technical leadership for the implementation of nutrition interventions, ensuring adherence to national guidelines and protocols, supporting the scale-up of high-impact nutrition practices, and offering results-oriented guidance to project teams. The officer will conduct routine analyses of program performance data, propose technical adaptations for service improvement, and maintain relevant protocols and training materials. Additionally, the officer will collaborate with the team to ensure project implementation is technically sound and aligned with organizational strategies. Responsibilities also include developing and monitoring technical work plans, contributing to reports required by the U.S. Department of State, and ensuring effective integration of nutrition services within MNCH and immunization services.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in Public Health, Nutrition, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Nutrition, or related fields. Preferred backgrounds include public health nutritionists, nutrition specialists, medical doctors with nutrition programming experience, or nurses/midwives with advanced nutrition training. A minimum of 6 years of experience in public health nutrition and public health, particularly in the Nutrition PIN program, is required. Proven leadership experience in supervising staff, designing training programs, and mentoring teams is essential. Candidates should have knowledge of implementing nutrition interventions at health facilities and community levels, and experience working in Nampula is preferred. Strong relationship-building skills with government and community stakeholders are necessary, along with fluency in Portuguese and oral presentation skills in English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Public Health, Nutrition, or Food Security and Nutrition. Candidates with specialized training in public health nutrition or related areas will be preferred, particularly those with a focus on maternal and child health programming.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public health nutrition and public health, with a strong emphasis on the Nutrition PIN program. Candidates should have a proven track record of leadership in supervising staff, designing and implementing training programs, and mentoring teams to meet clinical nutrition criteria at various levels.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, and candidates should possess strong oral presentation skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Nampula and may require up to 50% travel. The expected salary range for this role is USD 47,500 - 57,000 annually, with compensation determined by factors such as relevant experience and educational background.
