Job Overview: The Health & Nutrition Officer is responsible for providing professional technical assistance and support for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of health and nutrition program/project activities. This includes conducting data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking, and capacity building to achieve the planned objectives aligned with the Health & Nutrition program goals and strategy. The officer will report to the Health & Nutrition Specialist and will play a crucial role in ensuring that health and nutrition initiatives are effectively implemented and that the needs of children and communities are met. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance program delivery and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Health & Nutrition Officer will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Ensure accurate information, data analysis, and documentation are timely available to contribute to situation analysis and reporting.
Provide technical assistance in implementing integrated Health & Nutrition approaches through collaboration with internal and external partners.
Effectively implement work plans and objectives, ensuring timely delivery of planned results through technical support and coordination.
Monitor project implementation progress and make necessary adjustments to improve program delivery and sustainability.
Ensure gender/sex disaggregated data and inputs are provided relevant to the Health & Nutrition program.
Maintain transparency in supply and non-supply assistance and disbursement of program funds.
Foster effective partnerships and working relationships for advocacy, technical coordination, information sharing, and knowledge networking.
Keep up-to-date program information available and prepare reports to support the Health & Nutrition program.
Maintain emergency preparedness and provide effective emergency responses when needed. 1
Accomplish other assigned duties and responsibilities effectively.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in planning, program monitoring and evaluation, health care, and program management. Candidates should have professional experience in a program management function or as a technical expert in child survival and health care.
Skills: Candidates should be good communicators, able to write quality reports, result-oriented, advocates for children, transparent, ethical, inclusive, gender-responsive, and capable of working in a multi-sectoral team.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a University Degree in relevant fields such as Public Health and Nutrition, Child Development, Social Development, Community Development, Medicine, or Nursing. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the Health & Nutrition program.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in relevant areas such as planning, program monitoring and evaluation, health care, and program management. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Prior professional experience or field deployments in Rakhine State is also highly desirable, along with demonstrated relevant field experience in health and nutrition programming.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Burmese is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered desirable. This multilingual capability will enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
