Job Overview:
As a Construction engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Project Engineer within the Site and Civil Engineering Department, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of complex construction projects at CERN. Reporting directly to a CERN Project Manager, your primary responsibilities will include coordinating site activities, managing interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that all project execution aligns with technical specifications, scheduling, budgetary constraints, and safety objectives. You will be involved in various phases of project management, from design and procurement to testing and commissioning, ensuring a seamless handover of completed works. Your role will require a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in identifying potential issues on-site and implementing effective remediation strategies to maintain project integrity and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your duties will include supervising the execution of construction works, ensuring compliance with contractual drawings and specifications in collaboration with external consultants such as architects and engineers. You will be responsible for implementing and adhering to safety measures on-site, identifying potential issues, and managing the remediation of defects. Additionally, you will participate in testing, commissioning, and taking-over activities to facilitate the smooth handover of completed works. You will also contribute to the design, coordination, and procurement phases of new projects, closely monitoring consultants' deliverables during the construction phase. Coordination of on-site interfaces between contractors and CERN specialized services will be essential, as will organizing the worksite according to the construction schedule and monitoring the progress, quality, and budget of the works in collaboration with the project manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and possess a professional background in Civil Engineering or a related field. The ideal candidate will hold either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. It is also required that candidates have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates who have completed their degree within the last 2 to 6 years. Alternatively, a PhD in a relevant field with a maximum of 3 years of post-graduation experience is acceptable. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage complex construction projects.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience in Civil Engineering design or construction works on-site, as well as experience in coordination roles. This experience is critical for ensuring that the candidate can effectively supervise construction activities and manage stakeholder relationships.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language being essential. This bilingual requirement is important for effective communication within the diverse international environment at CERN.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, and the position is fully onsite. The target start date for this role is January 1, 202
