The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).

Job Overview:
The Graphic Design Consultant will work under the guidance of the UN RCO Head of Office and the Strategic Planning Officer, collaborating closely with relevant RCO staff. The consultant is expected to provide regular updates on progress and adhere to agreed timelines. The role involves delivering high-quality graphic design support for a variety of products, including reports, publications, fact sheets, policy briefs, and digital communication materials. This position is crucial for effectively communicating results, policy messages, and evidence-based analysis as the UNCT rolls out its next UNSDCF for the period 2026–203
  • The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that all design work aligns with UN branding and visibility guidelines, maintaining consistency across products and language versions, and preparing print-ready files and web-optimized PDFs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Graphic Design Consultant include: A. Core Graphic Design Services:
  • Designing and laying out UN reports and publications in both print-ready and digital formats.
  • Creating country situation updates, fact sheets, one/two pagers, policy briefs, and concept notes.
  • Developing infographics, charts, maps, icons, and other data visualization products.
  • Structuring and formatting complex, data-heavy content into clear, reader-friendly layouts. B. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensuring full compliance with UN branding and visibility guidelines.
  • Maintaining consistency across products and language versions.
  • Reviewing and advising on photo selection, image quality, and visual coherence.
  • Preparing print-ready files and web-optimized PDFs, including submission of editable/source files. The consultant will collaborate with content and translations provided by the UN RCO and UN agencies. A written or practical test may be organized for shortlisted candidates, depending on the position requirements, and candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio showcasing their recent design projects in PDF format for review.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in graphic design or any related field, including art and design.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product, with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management.
  • A strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including proficiency in design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, Final Cut HD, and web design tools like Dreamweaver and Flash.
  • At least 3 examples of previous works to be listed.
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated client orientation and sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment. Previous experience working on CCA products and UNCT annual reports is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field. This educational foundation should encompass both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in graphic design, ensuring that the candidate is well-equipped to handle the demands of the role.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is a minimum of 5 years in graphic production, which includes the entire process from initial design to the final published or printed product. Candidates should have a solid understanding of printing processes and color management, as well as a strong portfolio demonstrating their previous work in graphic design.

Languages:
Fluency in Russian is required for this position, while knowledge of English is considered desirable. This language proficiency is essential for effective communication within the multicultural environment of the UN and for understanding and creating materials that cater to diverse audiences.
