Job Overview:
The Political Affairs Officer will work under the overall guidance of the Head of the Mitrovica Regional Office (MRO). The role involves compiling and drafting various reports, including daily reports, code cables, and briefing notes. The officer will monitor specific aspects of the mandate implementation and will be required to travel periodically throughout the Area of Responsibility (AoR). It is essential for the officer to maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional events, particularly those that impact the political landscape and the implementation of the mission's mandate. This includes coordination and communication with other sections of the MRO, UNMIK headquarters, and local counterparts. The officer will gather, select, and analyze information from various communications and publications, providing inputs on issues as tasked. The role may also involve performing other related duties as required, emphasizing the need for adaptability and responsiveness to the evolving political context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Political Affairs Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Compiling and drafting reports or report inputs, such as daily reports, code cables, and briefing notes.
  • Producing notes to the file, talking points, and background notes as required.
  • Monitoring specific aspects of mandate implementation with periodic travel throughout the Area of Responsibility (AoR).
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of events in the region, particularly political events and trends affecting the mission's mandate.
  • Coordinating and communicating with other MRO sections and UNMIK headquarters as necessary.
  • Gathering, selecting, and analyzing information from various communications and publications.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments and providing inputs on issues as tasked.
  • Performing other related duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate integrity and professionalism, showcasing expertise in their area of specialty and the ability to apply good judgment. Experience:

Languages:
