Job Overview:
The ICLA Technical Assistant position at NRC involves supporting the implementation of civil and legal identity, housing, land, property (HLP) rights, and collaborative dispute resolution (CDR) activities. The role requires adherence to NRC policies and guidelines, assisting in the preparation of status reports, ensuring proper documentation, and promoting community engagement. The assistant will work closely with officers to ensure timely procurement and distribution of materials, while also contributing to the development of training materials and engaging in community mobilization. This position is crucial for promoting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, aligning with NRC's advocacy strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ICLA Technical Assistant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Adhering to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Assisting with the implementation of civil and legal identity activities, HLP rights, and CDR activities, particularly through information and counseling sessions, legal assistance, and capacity-building training.
  • Preparing and developing status reports as required by the supervisor.
  • Ensuring proper filing of documents and promoting ideas for improvement in support functions.
  • Engaging with communities and community leaders to ensure accountability in activities.
  • Breaking down annual operational plans into actionable weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans.
  • Assisting officers in the timely procurement and distribution of materials according to procedures.
  • Documenting project achievements and deliverables, including compiling periodic reports.
  • Contributing to the development of training materials and information dissemination tailored to the local context. 1
  • Providing updates and contributing to an updated monitoring and evaluation system in the country. 1
  • Integrating gender, protection, and advocacy priorities during project implementation. 1
  • Performing any other relevant tasks as requested by the line or technical manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in Law or Social Sciences from a recognized Nigerian university. A thorough understanding of Nigerian law, particularly in the context of displacement, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have work experience in the field of law, such as in courts, legal aid agencies, or humanitarian protection, with a preference for experience working with displaced populations. Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the ICLA Technical Assistant position includes a University Degree in Law or Social Sciences from a recognized institution in Nigeria. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the legal frameworks and social dynamics affecting displaced individuals and communities.

Experience:
