Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNICEF is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services while adhering to local traffic rules and UNICEF protocols. The Driver will be responsible for transporting UNICEF staff, visitors, and goods to various locations, including remote field sites, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a professional demeanor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safe and Reliable Driving Services: Drive UNICEF staff, visitors, and goods to and from official locations, ensuring compliance with local traffic laws and UNICEF safety standards. Assist staff and visitors at airports, providing minor protocol support and assistance with visa and customs formalities as needed.
  • Routine Vehicle Care, Maintenance and Readiness: Conduct daily vehicle checks, arrange timely service and repairs, and keep the vehicle clean and equipped with necessary supplies.
  • Use of Digital Tools and Tracking Systems: Operate the vehicle tracking system to log trip data, update bookings using the UN mobility tool, and manage routing and trip status through mobile devices.
  • Trip Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate trip logs, including mileage and fuel usage, and comply with digital fleet procedures.
  • Communication and Emergency Readiness: Maintain communication during field movements using radios or mobile phones, be familiar with emergency protocols, and cooperate with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security teams for safe routing.
  • Support Office Operations During Idle Periods: Engage in learning modules, support light administrative work, participate in team meetings, and assist junior drivers when requested.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a secondary education, a valid driver's license, and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a safe driving record. Fluency in Spanish is required, and knowledge of another official UN language or the local language is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required for this position, along with a valid driver's license. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations is essential for ensuring compliance and safety while driving.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. A proven safe driving record is a critical requirement for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language such as English, Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian, or the local language of the duty station is considered advantageous.
