Job Overview:
The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing the capacity of professionals involved in social housing. This position requires the consultant to develop training plans and materials tailored to various target audiences, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture and urbanism professionals. The consultant will also deliver training sessions that emphasize practical learning and field-based activities, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy, ensuring that gender-sensitive approaches are integrated into the training and evaluation processes. The consultant will be expected to engage in knowledge exchange with global south experts and provide technical support in creating a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of training plans and materials based on capacity needs assessments; 2) Delivering training sessions across three modules targeting different professional groups; 3) Providing technical support for the participatory development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 4) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions; 5) Developing a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools; 6) Collaborating with CAU/SP professionals on training activities; 7) Designing mechanisms to assess learning outcomes; 8) Preparing reports documenting training activities; 9) Participating in field missions as required; 10) Completing all courses and training activities as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or have three additional years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil, with experience in capacity building programs and teaching being essential. Experience with social housing, South-South Cooperation, and working in the public sector is preferred. Familiarity with project management methodologies is also desirable.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is required. A postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields is desirable, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in urban development and/or social housing, specifically within Brazil. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while experience with social housing and South-South Cooperation is considered advantageous. Previous experience working with the United Nations is also desirable, indicating familiarity with international standards and practices.
Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, given the local context. Working knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office.

The contract is part-time (48%) for a duration of five months, with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00

- Payments are structured based on the delivery and approval of specific products related to the training and evaluation processes. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required, with travel expenses covered by UN-Habitat according to United Nations travel guidelines. The position is open to nationals from Brazil or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil. The contract's extension is contingent upon funding availability and performance, and all applications must be submitted in English through the specified platform.
