Job Overview:
The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing technical assistance for social housing in Brazil. This position involves developing training plans and materials tailored for different target groups, including municipal professionals and civil society organizations. The consultant will conduct training sessions that prioritize practical learning and field-based activities, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience. Additionally, the consultant will collaborate with UN-Habitat experts to create a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy that incorporates gender-sensitive approaches and best practices from the Global South. The role requires active participation in knowledge exchange and capacity-building sessions, as well as the preparation of comprehensive reports documenting training activities and outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan based on capacity needs assessments. 2) Creating a structured training plan and materials for three distinct modules targeting municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture professionals. 3) Delivering engaging training sessions that emphasize practical learning experiences. 4) Collaborating on the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy with UN-Habitat experts and local partners. 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions for Global South professionals. 6) Developing a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools. 7) Facilitating collaborative training activities with local professionals. 8) Designing assessment mechanisms to evaluate participants' learning outcomes. 9) Preparing detailed reports on training sessions and outcomes. 10) Participating in field missions as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or equivalent experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. A minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil is required, along with experience in capacity building and teaching. Familiarity with social housing and South-South Cooperation is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong computer skills, proficiency in project management methodologies, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Competencies in professionalism, planning, communication, teamwork, and knowledge management are essential.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is mandatory. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields will be preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in urban development and social housing, particularly within Brazil. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while familiarity with social housing initiatives and South-South Cooperation is desirable. Previous work experience with the United Nations is also a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, as it is the primary working language in Brazil. Proficiency in English is desirable, and knowledge of French is beneficial, given the multilingual environment of the United Nations.

Additional Notes:
This is a part-time position (48%) with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
  • The contract is for five months, with payments tied to the delivery of specific products. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required. The position is open to Brazilian nationals or those with a permanent visa in Brazil. The contract may be extended based on performance and funding availability.
