The Digital FAO and Agro-Informatics Division (CSI) is a part of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The Digital FAO and Agro-Informatics Division focuses on leveraging technology to enhance agricultural practices and improve food systems globally. The division is responsible for all IT activities within the organization, including the development of IT policies, strategies, and standards, as well as delivering digital products and services that support FAO's global mandate. Within this context, the Digital Workplace workstream aims to create modern, secure, and user-centric digital environments that enhance collaboration and productivity across the organization.

Job Overview:
The Salesforce Marketing Automation Technical Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, integration, optimization, and operational management of FAO's Salesforce Marketing Cloud environment. This position requires a strong technical background in Salesforce marketing automation technologies and a deep understanding of digital communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities. The specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable marketing automation solutions that align with FAO's business requirements and communication strategies. The role combines technical implementation with functional collaboration, ensuring that marketing automation capabilities are effectively integrated into FAO's broader Salesforce ecosystem. The incumbent will work closely with various teams to enhance the overall employee and stakeholder experience through effective digital communication initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Salesforce Marketing Automation Technical Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of technical and functional activities, including: collaborating with communication teams and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for marketing automation initiatives; configuring and managing Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advanced components such as Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, and Cloud Pages; designing and implementing automated communication journeys including campaigns and newsletters; developing audience segmentation strategies based on subscriber profiles and engagement behavior; supporting the implementation of subscriber preference centers and consent management processes; optimizing personalized email content using AMPscript and dynamic content blocks; managing email campaign operations including scheduling and performance reporting; integrating Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM and external systems; troubleshooting issues related to automations and subscriber data; monitoring campaign performance and providing recommendations for optimization; conducting system testing and user acceptance testing; providing training and operational support to business users; ensuring compliance with governance and data protection standards; collaborating with external vendors and internal teams; and preparing comprehensive technical documentation to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: for consultants, an advanced university degree in Information Technologies, Computer Science, Digital Communications, Information Systems, or a related field is required. Consultants with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience. For PSA positions, a university degree or technical degree/certificate in a related field is required, and Salesforce professional certifications may be considered in lieu of a university degree. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience implementing and supporting Salesforce Marketing automation solutions and a working knowledge of English. Desirable qualifications include Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator and/or Email Specialist certification, Salesforce Data Cloud certification, and knowledge of one of the other FAO official languages.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in relevant fields such as Information Technologies, Computer Science, Digital Communications, or Information Systems. For those applying as PSA, a university degree or technical degree/certificate in a related field is acceptable. Salesforce professional certifications may also be considered in lieu of a university degree, particularly for candidates with extensive experience in the field.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing and supporting Salesforce Marketing automation solutions. This experience should include a strong understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advanced architecture and core modules, as well as experience with subscriber segmentation, audience management, and personalized communications. Familiarity with Salesforce Data Cloud concepts and experience integrating Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM and external systems is also essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation workflows and campaign execution, as well as experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is a working knowledge of English. Additionally, knowledge of one of the other FAO official languages is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This position is home-based and requires a minimum overlap of four working hours with the Rome, Italy time zone. The role involves both technical and functional activities and may require collaboration with various teams and stakeholders. Candidates should be prepared to engage in agile project delivery activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of FAO's Salesforce marketing automation ecosystem. The position may also involve working in a highly evolving dynamic business environment with multiple use cases.
