Job Overview:
The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing technical assistance for social housing in Brazil. This position involves close collaboration with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams to develop and deliver training programs that equip professionals with the necessary skills to bridge the gap between policy and practice in social housing. The consultant will be responsible for creating a comprehensive training plan and materials tailored to different target audiences, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture and urbanism professionals. The role emphasizes practical, hands-on learning experiences and the incorporation of gender-sensitive approaches in training methodologies. The consultant will also engage in monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the effectiveness of the training and ensure continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties and responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of initial premises and identifying priority thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan based on capacity needs assessments; 2) Developing a structured training plan and materials for an ATHIS training course, divided into three modules targeting different professional groups; 3) Delivering training sessions that prioritize practical learning and field-based activities; 4) Providing technical support for the participatory development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions with global south ATHIS professionals; 6) Developing a methodology handbook for applying Monitoring and Evaluation tools; 7) Collaborating with CAU/SP professionals on training activities; 8) Designing mechanisms to assess participants' learning outcomes; 9) Preparing reports documenting training activities; 10) Participating in field missions as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or a related field, with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate degree in relevant disciplines. A minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil is essential, along with experience in capacity building programs or teaching. Familiarity with social housing and South-South Cooperation is desirable, as is previous experience working with the United Nations. Candidates should possess strong computer skills, proficiency in project management methodologies, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism. A postgraduate degree in related fields such as Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, or Social Sciences is desirable. Additional relevant experience may substitute for formal education requirements.

Experience:
The consultant should have at least three years of relevant experience in urban development and/or social housing, particularly within the Brazilian context. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is required, while experience with social housing initiatives and South-South Cooperation is considered an asset. Previous work experience with the United Nations is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language in Brazil. A working knowledge of English is desirable, given that English and French are the official working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is used in the Regional Office.

This position is part-time (48%) with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
  • The payment schedule is linked to the delivery and approval of specific project outputs. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required for project activities, with travel costs covered by UN-Habitat according to UN travel guidelines. The appointment is on a local basis, and only Brazilian nationals or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract's extension is contingent upon funding availability and performance, and all applications must be submitted in English through the specified platform.
