Job Overview: The consultant will work under the supervision of the Education Specialist/Chief at UNICEF Algeria and will coordinate closely with designated MEN focal points. The primary function of this role is to conduct a preparatory, delivery, and capitalization process for a Training of Trainers programme in training engineering. This involves not only the design and implementation of training sessions but also ensuring that the training is tailored to meet the specific needs of the participants and the educational context in Algeria. The consultant will be expected to engage in a comprehensive analysis of training needs, develop relevant training materials, and facilitate participatory learning experiences that are practical and applicable to the participants' work in the education sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough needs analysis to identify the training requirements of the target audience.
Design and develop training materials and tools that are relevant and effective for the intended participants.
Facilitate training sessions, ensuring that the learning environment is participatory and conducive to adult learning principles.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programmes, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
Produce comprehensive reports on the training sessions, including feedback from participants and recommendations for future training initiatives.
Collaborate with public institutions and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with national education policies and practices.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to participants post-training to reinforce learning and application in their respective roles.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in education, training engineering, or related fields. They should have a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in training engineering, capacity development, and adult learning. Proven experience in designing and facilitating training programmes for public institutions is essential, along with a strong understanding of the education sector in Algeria. Candidates should also have the ability to produce high-quality training materials and evaluation instruments, and demonstrate a capacity for adapting content to meet institutional needs.
Educational Background: A degree in education, training engineering, sciences of education, pedagogy, social development, public policy, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in these areas will be considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in training engineering and capacity development, with a strong emphasis on adult learning and Training of Trainers methodologies. Experience in the education sector, particularly in training or supporting primary, middle, or secondary education actors, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and French is mandatory for this position, as these are the primary languages of instruction and communication within the educational context in Algeria. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and resources.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this consultancy is 3 months, and the working arrangement is on-site with travel requirements.
