Job Overview: The primary function of the Data Analyst NOB position is to connect analytics, monitoring, and learning to support evidence-based advocacy. The Data Analyst will also support field offices in their data analysis efforts to inform policy changes, thereby enhancing UNICEF's role as an evidence broker for children and young people in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Data Analyst NOB include:
Conducting comprehensive data analysis and visualizations to support advocacy efforts.
Innovating and utilizing frontier data to respond to emergencies effectively.
Building capacity within UNICEF and among partners for better data management and analysis.
Managing knowledge effectively to ensure that data insights are disseminated and utilized for policy changes.
Collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions, to enhance data-driven decision-making processes.
Providing technical support to field offices in their data and information analysis work.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Statistics, Data Science, Demography, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, Information Systems, or related fields. Candidates should possess proven experience in data visualizations, GIS, PowerBI, data analytics, emergencyinformation management, and data storytelling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, particularly in conveying complex information to non-specialist audiences. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's core values and competencies, including partnership building, ethical awareness, results-driven mindset, and strategic thinking.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in relevant fields such as Statistics, Data Science, Demography, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, or Information Systems. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of data analysis and its application in policy advocacy and program development.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in sectors such as Government, International Development, NGOs, or Consultancy. Experience should encompass areas like research, planning, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, data science, data visualization, geographic information systems, and policy advocacy. Relevant experience in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts is particularly valued.
Languages: Fluency in English and Urdu is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset. This multilingual capability is important for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
