Job Overview: The ET Consultant position within the Policy & Implementation - Investment Accounting sub team (CTRPI-IA) at the WBG Controllers (CTR) is focused on the accounting analysis, evaluation, and implementation of complex loan, equity, and guarantee transactions. The consultant will work closely with IFC’s investment officers and other staff in CTR, reporting directly to the CTRPI-Investment Accounting Supervisor. The role involves identifying transactions for review, assembling documents and information on projects selected for accounting review, and comparing legal agreements to accounting standards to provide conclusions on the applicable accounting treatment. The consultant will also leverage A.I. tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in their work, requiring a basic technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS guidance for financial instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ET Consultant include leveraging A.I. tools to identify transactions for review and assigning these reviews to team members. The consultant will prepare and document investment structures and background facts for scoped-in transactions, perform accounting analyses for simple investment transactions, and engage in discussions with Investment Officers and team members to clarify or obtain additional information. The consultant will also participate in continuous process improvement, document and update Investment Accounting procedures, share key information with supervisors and team members, assist in compliance testing and activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the ET Consultant position include a Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with preferably 2 years of relevant professional experience. An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is a plus. The candidate should possess basic technical accounting knowledge of financial instruments under US GAAP, particularly regarding Consolidation and/or Derivatives accounting. Excellent writing and data analysis skills are essential, along with strong A.I. skills and comfort with modern technology. Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness are also important, as is the ability to work effectively in a pressured environment and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the ET Consultant position includes a Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. This advanced degree is essential to ensure that the candidate has a solid foundation in the principles of accounting and finance necessary for the role. Additionally, having an internationally recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is highly desirable and would enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.
