Job Overview: The position of director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director in Lebanon is critical due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting the region. With over 1 million displaced individuals and many more in hard-to-reach areas, the role involves overseeing emergency projects that require rapid implementation to maintain donor credibility for future opportunities. The Country Director will lead a small team in the South of Lebanon, ensuring effective management of emergency projects, including distributions and cash assistance, while also overseeing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes. The role demands a proactive approach to addressing the acute needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and conflict-affected communities, as well as Syrian refugees, through both immediate humanitarian assistance and longer-term interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director will be responsible for the following duties:
Ensure the full and quality implementation of emergency projects in South Lebanon, including distributions and cash aspects.
Supervise the Programmes team and the MEAL Department, providing guidance and support to ensure effective project management.
Develop and implement MEAL planning for emergency projects, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and practices.
Coordinate with local and international stakeholders to facilitate project implementation and address challenges.
Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, making necessary adjustments to improve effectiveness.
Prepare reports for donors and stakeholders, highlighting project progress and challenges.
Manage the budget for emergency projects, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting staff development and capacity building.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Strong program and project cycle management skills, with a proven track record of successful project implementation.
Excellent staff management skills, with experience leading diverse teams.
Knowledge of core SI MEAL practices and standards is essential.
Familiarity with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) interventions is desirable.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for this role.
Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively under pressure.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the foundational knowledge necessary for effective program management and coordination in humanitarian settings.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in humanitarian project management, particularly in emergency contexts. Experience in managing diverse teams and implementing MEAL practices is highly valued. The role requires a demonstrated ability to work effectively in challenging environments and to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international stakeholders. The role is based in both Beirut and Saida, with living conditions provided in guesthouses that include private rooms and common areas. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 2860, a monthly per diem of USD 750, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Additionally, expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The position involves a work schedule that includes breaks every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked.
