Job Overview: The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director position at Solidarités International in Lebanon involves overseeing the implementation of humanitarian programs aimed at addressing the needs of both Syrian refugees and Lebanese citizens affected by the ongoing crisis. The role requires a strong focus on ensuring access to hard-to-reach areas, managing emergency activities, and supervising a diverse team of national and international staff. The Country Director will be responsible for strategic planning, program development, and maintaining relationships with local authorities and partners. The position is critical in navigating the complex security landscape in South Lebanon and ensuring that SI's operations are effective and responsive to the needs of the population.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the effective implementation of emergency activities in compliance with SI's standards and protocols.
Supervise and manage a team of international and national staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.
Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders to facilitate program implementation.
Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure they meet the needs of beneficiaries and adhere to SI's objectives.
Conduct regular assessments of security and access challenges in the region and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
Prepare and manage budgets for programs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Report on program progress and challenges to senior management and stakeholders.
Participate in coordination meetings with other humanitarian actors to ensure a collaborative approach to addressing the crisis.
Ensure compliance with SI's policies on safeguarding, abuse prevention, and ethical conduct.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
Proven experience in a similar position, demonstrating strong leadership and management skills.
Technical skills in security and access management, staff management, and program implementation are essential.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective collaboration and reporting.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, which may include international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or specialized training in humanitarian response or project management may be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience working in the humanitarian sector, particularly in roles that involve emergency response and program management. Experience in a leadership position within a similar context is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the challenges faced in South Lebanon.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local staff and beneficiaries. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract with a duration of 5 months, starting as soon as possible. The role is based in Saida, Lebanon, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 3080 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a monthly per diem. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, providing breaks every two months along with additional rest days. Expatriates will benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and other welfare needs.
