Job Overview: The primary purpose of the Conductor position is to transport NRC staff, visitors, documents, and materials to officially designated destinations within the area, the Country Office, or other locations. This role is crucial for facilitating the organization's mission-related processes. The Conductor is expected to adhere to NRC's policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines while ensuring the safety of passengers, goods, and the vehicle. The position requires a proactive approach to reporting accidents, breakdowns, and maintenance needs, as well as compliance with local authority regulations and NRC's logistical policies. The Conductor will maintain the vehicle in proper working condition, keep a travel log, and organize repairs in coordination with the supervisor. Additionally, the role involves providing logistical support during trainings and workshops, ensuring that all necessary documentation and equipment are in order, and managing the vehicle's inventory and communication tools. The Conductor must also be prepared to handle various logistical tasks as required by the organization, contributing to the overall effectiveness of NRC's operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Conductor will be responsible for the following duties:
Ensure adherence to NRC's policies and guidelines while transporting staff, visitors, documents, and materials to designated locations.
Guarantee the safety of passengers, goods, and the vehicle at all times.
Report any accidents, breakdowns, or maintenance needs immediately.
Comply with local authority regulations and NRC's logistical policies.
Maintain a travel log for all trips undertaken.
Keep the vehicle in good working condition, checking technical status, cleanliness, and fuel levels regularly.
Organize repairs and servicing in coordination with the supervisor.
Ensure that the assigned vehicle has all necessary documents and equipment.
Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops as needed. 1
Drive NRC vehicles according to the Driver's Manual and safety guidelines. 1
Mobilize NRC staff or cargo according to pre-planned schedules, considering route specifics, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situations, and weather conditions. 1
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management, including periodic reviews, deliveries, damages, and losses. 1
Act according to NRC's logistics and safety guidelines in handling situations such as accidents or incidents. 1
Manage vehicle documentation and alert the Logistics Team Leader about expiring policies or documents. 1
Take responsibility for the assigned vehicle, completing required documentation for deliveries, inspections, fuel loads, maintenance, and daily trips. 1
Submit consolidated reports to the relevant supervisor by the fifth working day of each month. 1
Ensure the proper functioning of ICT equipment assigned or borrowed, such as satellite phones, VHF radios, GPS, etc. 1
Maintain updated training in NRC's Safety Standards and comply with security requirements for designated staff. 1
Assist in logistical activities related to missions and report security issues during travel. 2
Keep an updated inventory of the vehicle and communication tools. 2
Handle document deliveries and other administrative tasks as required. 2
Conduct transactions with banks, state entities, and suppliers as needed. 2
Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops, including inventory management and organization in warehouses when required. 2
Ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials to prevent damage or deterioration. 2
Support the implementation of PSI activities included in the Country Office Action Plan relevant to the unit/team. 2
Execute other tasks assigned by direct supervision in line with the purpose of the position.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Conductor position should possess the following qualifications:
High school diploma with technical or professional studies in Business Administration, Logistics Management, International Business, or similar fields.
A valid professional driving license in accordance with local regulations.
A minimum of 3 years of work experience as a driver in humanitarian contexts.
Previous experience working in complex and changing environments.
Experience in driving boats and knowledge of maritime and river routes in Telembi, Nariño, and the Pacific coast of Cauca and Nariño.
Proven experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics or maintenance.
Basic knowledge of first aid.
Familiarity with the geographical context of Nariño and Cauca. 1
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a high school diploma, with additional technical or professional studies in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Logistics Management, or International Business. Additional qualifications in automotive mechanics or maintenance are considered a plus, and any other educational background that supports the role will be positively evaluated.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a driver, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience in complex and rapidly changing environments is essential, as is familiarity with driving boats and knowledge of local maritime and river routes. Proven experience related to the responsibilities outlined in the job description is required.
Languages: While knowledge of English is desirable, it is not mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Spanish is essential, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the communities served.
Additional Notes: This position may require frequent travel to areas where endemic diseases are present. The role is full-time and may involve working in challenging environments.
